Services For Individuals, Estates & Trusts

Our tax laws have become increasingly complex. Things that were once relatively simple, like deducting home mortgage interest or making an IRA contribution, aren't simple anymore.

As Certified Public Accountants, we are required by the New York State Education Department to continually update our skills - something non-CPA tax return preparers are not required to do. As individuals, we don't stop at the state's minimum requirements. We make the commitment of our time and resources to go above and beyond that minimum to ensure that our clients are getting the very best in tax and financial planning services.

Tax & Financial Planning

Tax planning and tax return preparation involve much more than just putting numbers on a form or entering information into a software pr ogram. The partners and staff at Ciaschi, Dietershagen, Little and Mickelson, LLP have the experience, the resources and the dedication to provide you with the highest quality tax planning and tax preparation services.

We offer tax planning and tax return preparation for individuals, businesses, estates and trusts. We work with our clients throughout the year to devise effective tax planning strategies for retirement, charitable giving, education funding, and real estate transactions.

Retirement Planning

Today's population will live longer during retirement than previous generations. It is essential that we make sound financial plans for our retirement years. We can help you articulate your retirement goals and identify factors that may affect your retirement planning. We can assist you in choosing a retirement plan for your business, help you make decisions regarding Individual Retirement Accounts, and advise you on your retirement distribution options.

Estate Planning

As our society and our tax laws become more complex, careful planning is necessary to ensure that an individual's objectives for his or her estate are carried out as they had intended. Those objectives may change as one's life and financial situations change. A client's estate planning objectives typically relate to one or more of the following basic concerns:

  • Protecting loved ones
  • Minimizing estate taxes
  • Providing adequate estate liquidity
  • Ensuring competent management of assets
  • Directing the disposition of assets according to the individual's wishes

We can provide estate planning advice to help you meet your objectives. We also perform administrative services for estates and trusts, including the preparation of estate, gift and fiduciary tax returns as well as business valuations. Our partners also act as executors and trustees.

Litigation Support

Litigation support engagements range from consultation and technical assistance to expert witness testimony and can include accounting, auditing, taxation and management consulting services. We have provided technical expertise in hundreds of court actions, such as matrimonial cases. These cases involve business valuations, the valuation of professional practices and professional licenses, pension valuations, forensic auditing of the closely-held business, the tax implications of property transfers, alimony and child support.
