John Dietershagen, our firm's managing partner, is also a member of our tax and small business department. He performs financial statement audit, review and compilation engagements and provides tax and consulting services for small businesses and individuals. John has significant experience in estate planning and estate administration, including serving as executor or co-executor of clients' estates.

John has earned the AICPA Certificate of Educational Achievement in Business Valuations. He performs business valuation engagements for estate and gift tax purposes and in connection with matrimonial cases and business transfers. John is also assisted by and provides assistance to the company's certified valuation analyst, Shirley Fearn.

John has specialized, extensive experience in preparing business interruption insurance claims. Our firm provided skilled professional claims services to many businesses impacted and/or destroyed by Hurricane Katrina. Claims work included challenging inadequate insurance and business interruption insurance awards made to certain insured businesses; as well as the preparation and submittal of business interruption claims to insurance carrier appointed claims adjusters.

John's clients include businesses in the hospitality industry, professional practices, real estate and manufacturing. In addition to his client responsibilities in our Ithaca office, John oversees our Cortland office.
